Mark Skillestad

Mark Skillestad, affectionately known as "Skittles," was born in Houston, Texas, and spending his formative years in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Mark and his family have been a resident of Gastonia since 1994, where he has contributed tirelessly to the community's growth and well-being.


Mark graduated in 1984 with honors from Louisiana Tech University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees in Finance.  Mark furthered his education and professional development by completing The Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. This prestigious program equipped him with advanced knowledge and skills in banking and finance, enhancing his capabilities as a Commercial Banker.


Mark, after 33 years as a Commercial Banker, retired in 2017.  Mark enjoyed a fulfilling career spanning over three decades  where he earned a reputation for his astute financial acumen, integrity, and dedication to client success.  For the past seven (7) years, Mark has been employed with Kintegra Health, where he serves as the Manager of Contracts, Physical Assets, and Compliance.


Mark continues to serve as a  Youth Counselor, Sunday School Teacher and Confirmation Class Leader at the First United Methodist Church.  For over 25 years, he has mentored and guided countless young individuals on their spiritual journey and instilling in them the values of faith, compassion, and service to others.


Mark celebrates over 40 years of marriage to his beloved wife Denise. Together, they are proud parents to two married adult sons, Christopher and Garrett, and doting grandparents to four grandchildren, with one more expected to arrive in August 2024.


Mark embraces life with a zestful enthusiasm and a commitment to excellence. His tagline, "Be the Best Always!" reflects his unwavering belief in striving for greatness in every endeavor.
