Rev. Shelton Davis is excited to begin work at FUMC as a pastoral counselor for Sanctuary Counseling Group. Shelton is also the Clinical Director for Sanctuary Counseling Group and has an additional office in Belmont. She is a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an ordained elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Prior to working as a pastoral counselor, Rev. Davis was a Board Certified Chaplain (Association of Professional Chaplains) having worked at Gaston Memorial Hospital and Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center.
First UMC Gastonia has a long and rich history of hosting pastoral counselors in its hallways. When we became a part of the FUMC family more than 30 years ago, we were called Methodist Counseling and Consultation Services. We changed our name a few years ago to reflect the wide range of clients we see, but that did not change our deep commitment to providing for the emotional and spiritual needs of the communities in which we serve (fifteen of them; all over the metropolitan Charlotte area). We are so grateful to serve alongside the people of FUMC in mission to Gastonia and beyond.
