Jill Willis

Jill Willis is a New York native who has lived in North Carolina since 1994.  As the daughter of an Episcopal priest, she has had lifelong immersion in church music and has worked for the UMC since 2005 as a Director of Children’s & Youth Music, Contemporary Worship Leader, and Director of Music.  She left her career in 2021 to return to school and finish her first music degree, which was completed in May 2024.  She has studied music and voice at Greensboro College, Central Piedmont Community College, and Queens University of Charlotte.  Jill has an immense love of music and its role in worship, as well as the many other details that contribute to worship.

Jill’s interests include travel, gardening, hiking, nature, decorating with vintage architecture and cooking.  Shoes, music, and books are amongst the things that her husband would say she has too much of.

Jill has been married to husband Scott for 29 years and she has two amazing children, Matthew – 28; and Katie – 25.  They also have “Beep” the cat and “Daisy” the dog.

Jill’s favorite Bible verse is Revelations 21: 1-5 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.””
