2022 Mid-Hi Summer Mission trip - June 19-25, 2022

When: Leave from church Sunday June 19 @ Noon - Return Saturday around Noon June 25
Who: Current 6th-8th grade students + Adults
What: This trip is organized by Carolina Cross Connection (CCC). Our church has had four mission trips in two years with CCC. We team up with CCC staff in building projects (building wheelchair ramps, porches, or stairs, painting, etc). We participate in worship and small group each night. CCC Website
Where: We will be staying at Holston Retreat Center in Banner Elk, NC. Bunk beds are provided - campers will need to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows. CCC Statement of Diversity and Inclusion.
Cost: $325 First Deposit of $150 is due February 28. 2nd Deposit of $175 is due May 1. What's included in cost: Lodging, meals, CCC Staff, Service Project Materials, Tools, Evening Activities and the cost of adults going (they are taking a week of their vacation to be with us after all). All mission trip participants must take part in fundraising as the true cost of the trip is $450 per person. If you do not participate in fundraising, you will need to cover the additional $125 on your own.
Cost should NOT deter you from signing up or attending. If you would like to go, we will find the money for you to attend. We do ask that you cover at least the registration fee for attending, and payment plans/scholarships are available upon request. Please see Stephanie Jenkins for more details.

COVID PROTOCOLS FROM 2021: Masks were worn inside. Adults attending were strongly encouraged to be vaccinated. As summer gets closer, we expect updated protocols to be released.
2022 Sr-Hi Summer Mission Trip - july 10-16, 2022

When: Leave from church Sunday July 10 @ 7am - Return late Saturday afternoon July 16
Who: Rising 9th grade - students who graduate 2021. College students age 20+ can also attend
What: This trip is organized by Youth Works. In Harrisburg, our group will serve alongside the community in various community development efforts that are working to improve the life of its residents. We will have the opportunity to serve with local children’s programs, community gardens and assist neighborhood associations with small home repair, community beautification and cleanup projects. In the evenings, we'll visit Hershey’s Chocolate World for a chocolate tour, attend a youth service at a local church and enjoy the beauty of Harrisburg alongside friends we make during the week. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2010. Friday we will go to Hersheypark for a day of fun.
Where: Lodging is a local church, school or community building. Participants will need to bring their own sleeping bags, pillows and air mattresses that are twin or smaller. Off-Site showers may be at local community center, YMCA or public high school which may include open shower rooms or private stalls. PAST MISSION TRIPS
In 2021 we had two wonderful weeks of mission in July, one with the Mid-Hi and one with the Sr-Hi. We partnered with Carolina Cross Connection in serving people in surrounding counties of the Wilkesboro area.

other outreach efforts - year round
Throughout the year we participate in many different ministries that are ongoing. Some past examples include providing a meal & devotion to With Friends, Inc., assist with Crisis Assistance Ministries, partnering with Holy Angels, and more.
Fall 2021 Missions:
• Cleaned at Crisis Assistance Ministry & also collected donations for CAM
• Handed out free waters to people attending parade/downtown activities
• Joined "Keep Gastonia Beautiful" for a trash pick up around downtown
During the 2020-2021 pandemic we did the following...
• Created "Friendly Neighbor Bags" for our neighbors without homes
• Nov. 22nd Outreach - fed 70 families from the Boys & Girls Club & Crisis Assistance Ministries along in partnership with First Presbyterian (Packed Thanksgiving Meal Boxes) (See picture)
• Wrote letters to shut-ins
